Just scored 5Litres of Total Energy 9000 5W-40 according to the MSDS this is a group III oil but some european engine manufacturers recommend 20,000 or even longer oci's.
I scored this elixir for $35 (yep 35 ) it complies with VW502.00/505.00 BMW-LL-98 MB 229.3 GM-LL-B025 ACEA: A3/B4 API: SL/CF.
Can this oil withstand 6-8 months in 2003 Altima 2.5 engine? (140,000km)I assume my mom will put about 12,000-14,000 km during that time mixed city/hwy

This oil was previously called Elf Excellium NF 5W/40, and I have been using it in my 223,000 mile Saab 9-5 for around a year now. I had one UOA done after 5600 miles and the results were great.

The MSDS thing is confusing. From reading the MSDS myself I agree with your assessment that it appears to be a Group III oil, but only FULL SYNTHETICS (using the European definition) are being relabeled as Quartz 9000 with the move from Elf to Total branding. The semi-synthitics and such are being labeled as Quartz 7000.

Maybe it is a Group III, but it might be a Group IV. The Total web site is pretty adament about the 9000 labeled oils being fully synthetic.
