Torx plus - What is a good kit for a home user?

T30 on a VAG product is as common as a 10mm on Asian Imports.

But we’re talking about Torx Plus here, not Torx. They’re not interchangeable.
Well....they are -- until they're not. Plenty of guys have screwed up Ford bed bolts using Torx and not Plus ;)

Duramaxes tend to use a fair bit of Torx. Most door strikers I've encountered are Torx. I used a small (T15 maybe) just the other day to remove the hood latch extension handle on a '21 Chevy 1500.

BMW uses just a couple tamper proof Torx on their underbody splash shields, which continues to baffle me. There's not enough room to slide under there to steal a cat even if you wanted to....?

Some of these Euro cars are so low squirrels have to belly crawl to get under them. I had a pre BMW Mini Cooper years ago with 10" wheels and low profile tires.
This 328d I service is low enough no adult could even think about getting under there, much less see what you're doing or fit a Sawzall.

Do you know why the mystery tamperproof are there amongst the 30+ bolts that hold the shields up? Are they trying to discourage DIY?

Those Germans are really odd!! :p

The Germans call it creative work for the dealers. Most German average DIY do not have tool boxes like many people in the US, basic stuff sure but not many have welders, torches, air and cordless tools, a vast assortment of sockets, extensions, ratchets and wrenches or even a place to do some major work. One thing is clear, they do not want you working on your own car so they make it frustrating or difficult.
It is getting that way here more and more in the US.

Maybe their roads are better and don't have potholes that can swallow a small car like you have or I have here in NY. lol Is there any truth to that, maybe in Germany?

In most western European countries some small defects in the road will usually bring out a road damaged sign, the roads are generally smooth and in good condition. Many of the roads here in MA are similar to tank obstacles and are better suited to track vehicles. It is terrible and getting worse by the day.
They fill some holes but leave them raised creating stuff like speed bumps, the next snow storm the plows rip the scabs off.

I found myself needing a Torx plus this weekend so I caved and bought this set. (Just the Torx plus set alone was $21 something so this seems like a good buy.)

I have a few other Neiko sets and they’ve done me good so far.
