It's been a long day so I didn't get too man photos in good light. Our drive was slated to be about 2.5 hours to Chicago for the pickup and my wife and I left home to give an hour to spare. We were 5 minutes late still. The stop an go 4 miles an hour driving with the GTI riding the DSG clutch made it very angry by the time we got to Tesla. It was bucking, kicking, and occasionally free revving when I got on the throttle, which I did do on occasion just because it was the last time I would ever do it.

I took it easy on the Model Y Performance after pickup. Stopped an hour into the drive for a 10 minute Supercharger top up since we left on 66% charge. That time I gave it the full beans up the on ramp. I've driven some fast Teslas before, but to be honest I was not prepared for how quick this thing is and I own it. I was waiting for my wife to let me have it for not warning her, but we were both laughing like complete idiots. The return trip including a lunch stop and 10 minutes of charging was 3 hours. A bit of an improvement.

It's comfortable. It's fast. I still no how matter much I try it really don't like FSD. After it cut off a semi and almost missed an offramp it's back to fully off on my car. I tried. A win everywhere else though!

A few shots after I got it cleaned up and charging in the garage while washing my wife's Model 3.

Enjoy! I really love mine as well, except for the FSD. It’s more work mentally for me to use it than just driving. Maybe if I took a lot of long trips but the autopilot is fine for that.

How are the Hankooks? Mine came with Michelin All Seasons that still have 5-7/32 left at 23,000 miles. They are wearing much better than I thought they would.

That's how I feel about FSD as well. It feels like less work to drive than babysit and my reactions to try and get it to not change lanes when I don't want it to seem to be the wrong ones.

I've only got about 180 miles on the car as of today on the Hankooks. I've historically been a huge Hankook fan. I've put Hankooks on every car I've replaced the tires on for the last 10 years. I feel like they have always been a good balance of price, handling, wear, and noise. I was really happy to see those were the tires I got to be honest. I hope they do well for me.

You have 2 Teslas. Color me jealous... Enjoy your new M3P, but don't hurt yourself! Ha!
That's an 11 second car, by the way.
I'm aware of the numbers, but sometimes the number really doesn't paint the picture when it comes to the experience. I wonder if it's possible to tire of it, because I don't see how. I feel like I did pretty well here. Really love that I got the white interior too. I was apprehensive to buy the car that I did out of inventory while waiting for another black interior to show up. I just didn't want to wait for the order. My thought on method is if I timed the pre-existing car purchase right I could schedule pick up for my day off. I got lucky there. I just kept seeing discounted cars disappearing and this one was on there for 4 days. I'm glad I didn't wait longer. Very happy with it.

How many miles you going to drive before dumping the break-in oil?
Got a recommendation? I don't want it to be the thin stuff either. It's an 11 second car so it definitely needs M1 15w50.

You won't tire of the acceleration. On the road, if you wanna change lanes, the instant pull makes all the difference.
You bought well.

And yes, words fail that roller-coaster acceleration.

I've run Ion AS SUV before. They're a cheap trash tire. Something you replace asap unless quiet and range are all you care about with traction being a "they're round and roll, so...good to go?" Type afterthought.

I'm more interested in what it cost out the door without the "5 year gasoline savings" gimmicks.

Congrats! Enjoy it in good health 🥂

My Tesla stock salutes you! 🖖

Saw a young lady this afternoon abandoning her model3 at the side of the road. She had just her purse and cell phone. I'd have offered her a lift but she was going the other direction. Maybe she ran out of juice. I've never seen that before.

It happens.

Time will tell if that's the case. Disappointing if that is typical. I really like Hankook. It hooked on the on ramp but I rolled into the throttle at 20mph. That's a pretty easy traction situation with AWD though and not a proper test.

Price was $44,330 OTD after the $7,500 rebate. The only add ons were Ultra Red for $2000 and white interior for $1000 and I got a $4,300 discount for buying a pre-existing car in inventory. It must have been a rejected order, missed order, or maybe locations randomly get builds without orders. It wasn't a demo. It only had 5 miles on it when I took delivery. Sticker with delivery without the $4,300 discount and $7,500 rebate was $56,130.

Edited to add that I also qualified for the 0% financing. That's really the only reason I bought now. $4,300 off plus the promo rate and considering that Tesla gave me more for my GTI than anyone else would on trade pushed me over the edge.

Congrats. She's a beaut'. Many years of fun, reliable and safe motoring.

Tesla vehicles are common place around here now. It is truly a huge success.
+1

My Uber was a Tesla from FLL this past summer. Further, I saw a minimum of 6 Cybertrucks too.

My GT will blow them off in the rain. Braking distances are disgusting in wet. In dry the tires are decent. When it rains, they're worthless.

I'll definitely put them through their paces and if that's the case I'm sure I'll see more of the same.
