Thanks. Yeah I think the number of sockets in the $20 set swings it for me. Any thoughts on how tight the sockets should be on the 1/4 inch driver?

Most of my tools (Craftsman and Stanley) hold the sockets pretty tight without very much play in it. It looks like the set you bought doesn't have a "quick release" button, thus causing it to be a little on the loose side.

Nope it has a quick release button. I can see a difference in play between the 1/4 and 3/8 drivers. I'll take it back and see if other sets do the same.

Its a $20 set so don't expect perfection. Maybe look at the Craftsman 260 piece set that goes on sale for $180 if you want a more proper tool set.

I would just take it back and get the 3/8" Kobalt 40 piece ratchet set. It's on sale right now for just $20 (half price), I can't remember for how long though. As a general rule, don't get anything labeled Task Force if it has moving parts. The Kobalt is made by Danaher, the same manufacturer as Craftsmen.

I work at Lowe's. If anyone has questions about Lowe's tools, I knew quite a bit about them.

Yes I saw it. Sold out at the store I went to. I'm not a heavy user so figured that more versatility was better for me than professional quality. Plus the Task Force has a lifetime guarantee anyway.

Yes, true. It does have a lifetime guarantee. Make sure you hold on to the package and receipt to make the process very swift and easy if you ever have to bring it in. I have a Task Force ratchet as well, it's not all bad. Hasn't failed on me yet.
