Toro CCR 2450 GTS

I've owned this beast for a few years having purchased it after a record snowstorm in February 2003. Snow in Maryland is hit or miss and the latest storm this past weekend was the first real test for this machine.

This snow blower did remarkably well in dealing with the 20+ inches of snow that got dumped on central Maryland this past weekend. I tackled the job in stages and the single stage machine did not miss a beat It is a perfect machine for areas that typically do not get a lot of snow, cleans down to the pavement and stores easily in your garage. If we got big snowstorms every year, I'd up for a two stage model, but this machine seems to be able to handle the occasional "big" snowstorm.

They do work well. I've got a mid 1990's CCR series Toro w/ the 5hp Suzuki 2-stroke as a b/u machine. As long as you don't have a huge area or massive plow-mound, they're excellent.

Toro makes a fine machine.

I have a 32-year-old S200 2-stroke smoker that my dad bought brand new which still starts and throws snow to this day. It does remarkably well on smaller storms, say 5 inches or less, and that's enough to keep me from starting the 2-stage Honda sometimes. The weather guys tell us that we should be getting from 8 to 20 inches over the next couple of days. How's that for hedging your forecast? Sounds like a bad porno...

I thought I was the only one who owned this hard to find, mid 1990's CCR w/ a 5 HP 2 cycle engine. I bought mine used for $50 a few years back and it has never let me down. Mine has cleared up to 12"-14" at a time, down to the pavement (without sweating). More refined than the more common R Tek 2 stroke snowblowers (to my ears).

Now what I always wondered about these type snowblowers:
A) Can you take a 2 cycle Lawn Boy mower engine and swap it (for repowering purposes) for a Toro R Tek, like the CCR 2450 model? Isn't it the same engine? (minus the air filter).

B) I also have a 2 cycle, 5 hp, Suzuki powered, 21" mower. Same question as B)

I have Suzuki power CCR Toro shop, I think it's a 1990 model. The guy at the local Toro said that the Suzuki 2cycle motor are built than the Fuji and Kawasaki 2cycle motors. My CCR always start within 2 pulls.

same here-I have a big Ariens and the Toro. I choose the Toro for everything but clearing the end of the driveway.
My 12 year old son got his first try with the Toro after last weekend's snowstorm. Looks like I'll have one less thing to do from now on

I have a 23 year old CCR2000 powered with a Suzuki 2 stroke. I am always amazed of how much know it moves. The only thing I don't like is how bad I stink from the exhaust.

You need to get your hands on some synthetic 2 cycle oil, instead of the more common mineral based 2 cycle oil. I bought up a couple cases of the discontinued Mobil 1 MX2T and Mobil 1 Racing 2T. Cuts amount of exhaust smell and smoke in half. Check your local Autozone to see if any are still left on their shelves. If not, check your local Exxonmobil Distributor in the phone book. Amsoil Sabre may work as well, I don't know (I never tried it).

I have a 6 1/2HP 2 cycle Lawn Boy mower, a 5 HP Toro 2 cycle mower with Suzuki engine, a Snapper 2 cycle mower with a Robin engine, and a 2 cycle 5 HP, Suzuki powered Toro Snowblower. The only one that gives me any hint of oily exhaust stink is the Lawn Boy. With the other machines, you just end up smelling like sweat.
