Torn Purolators: they DO TEAR!

Should be good for the OEM manufacturer interval-but we all know Puro cellulose filters are pretty worthless for anything but target practice!

Thanks for the laughs. I will just stick with the regular Wix filters good for up to 10,000 miles, holds 18 grams of dirt, and it is 99% efficient at 23 microns. All for $3.91 for my 51515.

You are welcome sir

Yeah i can run a 41516 on my Camry; maybe ill nab one for it soon

Surprise ! ... oh well. Using it for 8K miles had nothing to do with the failure, it tore from delta-p on wide (with brittle media) pleats and probably tore within the first 100 miles.

I'm glad I ditched the few I had left. I'm done with them for good. There are way better choices.

Video was made in 2015 older Purolator still had the round holes vs the louvers.
I've yet to find a torn Purolator on my Corolla. I've been using the old PureOne and the
newer Purolator One.

Okay, I've seen the photographic evidence of some of the white and blue filter tears. I don't know if this includes Purolator's PureOne or not, but...What about their new BOSS filters? They describe a new type of filter material, enforced and interwoven with a backing material. Anyone know of tears in these black colored BOSSes?

Never heard of one tearing, but their sales numbers are pretty low -

I think there have only been a few C&P of a BOSS on here, ever.

I happily run regular Wix for well over 10k

Maybe Purolator needs to sell beige filters and fuschia pink filters, and green filters. Keep changing the paint color. Also change the shape of the drain holes. Make them slots, or crescents moons, or stars. Kind of like Lucky Charms cereal. Write NEW! on the box. Call it Indestructo by Purolator but write the word Purolator in tiny, 6-point type so no one can read it. Make the cardboard box 1/4" taller. Same filter as always, of course. Charge 10¢ more than the brands next to it, that spells premium quality.

I would have entertained trying the Boss filter on my truck (my Jeep is picky with filters), but my concern is the burrs around the base plate holes tearing the ADBV. No thanks.. Also, if their quality is that poor, how much manufacturing debris is left inside the can when it's sitting on a store shelf?

I have no problems with M+H manufactured products and will continue to use them, but they really need to step in and pass this quality along to Purolator. Maybe they just aren't micro managers and just let the little guys do their thing. WIX was good before being sold and they still are..

Personally I will not use one. Why take the chance when there are countless others that do not tear.

How "new" are you talking about? There have been late 2017 and early 2018 made filters with tears.
Tears started in what 2012, and they are still tearing in the same spot (the wide pleat to either side of the seam)

Exactly. I'll let someone else play Purolator Roulette with 2 bullets in the gun, and I'll read about the outcome on Bitog.
