This kit was MIA for awhile . Ever wonder why some oils does not use moly ? Apparently Torco has all of it

That is a lot of Moly. I'm using the SR1 5w30 wondering how much moly that has in it. Guess I'll find out after a used oil analysis.

Going to try some of this stuff in my honda civic (02) this weekend. The Mobil 1 0w20 did not impress me seat of the pants. Throttle response felt sluggish compared to Pennzoil Conventional and amsoil 5w20. This one should be rev happy at 7.3 cst!

I can tell by the visual it's not molydisulphide .

The King has been dethroned in that respect .I will follow the varous VOA's of the SR-1 line-up with interest to see if the chemistry kicks the Cu level up or lowers in some engines .

I wonder what the starting tbn was, considering this has low Calcium and Magnesium?

Personally, I prefer a 9.0 cSt oil for a 5W20, unless I'm going for a qualifying run.

I would imagine this oil could shear down fast to a 4.0 cSt unless it has synthetic basestocks.

Did they give any HTHS numbers?

The tin is an AW/antioxidant similar to ZDDP, and acts as a secondary AW additive.

This last remaining kit I had for this lab did not have TBN paid for but going off memory Torco states 7.5 for TBN .

I agree , too thin for me also . Factor in some fuel dillution and swiping a bearing could result .

No HT/HS and actually I've not seen the basestocks used verified . Only reported as PAO/Ester .

Group 4/5 blend is what Torco told me. Ht/HS 2.61 or 2.62, don't recall which at the moment. I had to try this in my honda. and with about 800 miles on it, seat of the pants feels fine. Feels just like Mobil 1 0w20, but seems to pick up revs a little quicker. I noticed with the Mobil 1 that the longer I ran it the better it felt s.o.p. I wonder if this one will be the same. Going to try it for a couple of OCIs and see. Pretty happy with it so far. I think I may have picked up a little bit of mpg improvement over Mobil 1 but too early to tell.

I have been using Torco Sr-1 5w-20 in my Mazda3 2.3 since I dumped the factory fill @ 1,000 miles (I have 15,000 miles now).

A lot of MZ3 atx hatch-backs report bad mpg (22 and under). I reset my trip computer at every oci, and I am getting 28.2 mpg since I bought the car. Is it the Torco? I don't know, I'm just providing some facts.

This is an interesting report. I have not seen much about Torco oils here. I have heard of Torco in auto racing, however.

The only time I ever used a Torco product was a supplement they used to sell that had the oil additive package that they used in their oils. They are supposed to use (or they used then at any rate) some sort of magnetic additives that supposedly would cling to iron and steel inside an engine.

As I posted a while ago, I switched over to Torco 5w30 SR-1. I picked up MPG in my personal 05 Ford Explorers 4.0 sohc as well as my Ford work trucks. I did notice a small oil usage in one Explorer (1/4 qt in 5,000 miles) but that has stopped. Price from factory is reasonable especially in quantity with their extremely low fixed shipping costs.

Torco has always advertized "MPZ" as the additives in their oil.
