Anyone with information on Torco engine oil? Was visiting their website. They too claim to produce a fine 100 percent synthetic base engine oil.

With out a question one ,I might add the BEST full synt. one the market, for a reasonable price, though abit different in chemistry balance, very good lube,BL

The 5w20 has viscosity of 7.31. I certainly don't know a lot about oil, but, the viscosity seem significantly lower than some others.

I have never used Torco engine oil, but I did use an oil supplement they used to sell that used the same technology used in their motor oils-some sort of magnetic oil additives technology. There did not seem to be any difference in the performance of my engine. I have gotten bigger performance increases by using Auto-RX to clean an engine and by using Lubegard engine oil supplement.

I have used Torco SR-1 for nearly two years. I actually used it before I found this board, and loaded up on so many other good oils on sale/closeouts/rebates.

My son used the 5W-20 in his 2002 Ford Focus ZTS 2.0L dohc Zetec for nearly 30,000 miles. The specs show it as quite "thin", but in his car it seemed a-ok. No extra noise, very good performance and mpg...even in two So Cal summers. I used 5w30 in my modular Ford Trucks for a combined 40,000+ miles. Never did any UOA, so my experience is non scientific, but I liked the stuff.

I still have about 2 cases of each weight, thanks to a generous BTOG poster who sent it to me at a great price. It is part of my stash of GC, Mobil 1, Lucas, Havoline synthetic, Valvoline synthetic, Pennzoil Platinum, Mobil 5000, TropArtic synthetic blend.......

Have have limited street/strip experience with TR-1 10W40 racing oil in my big block chev - limited because I haven't rebuilt this combination yet - but the engine builder I used for this combination did NOT want me to use any other oil - and showed me the bearings / lifters / valves / cylinder bores out of the other competition engines in his shop in support of his recommendation.

I did my own research (including some done on this website) and phone interviewed other builders with experience in these types of combinations - the ones that did use Torco absolutely recommended it - the ones that didn't use it did not have reason to go to a smaller distributor for oiling problems that they didn't have.

I have 5 gal pails of the TR1 10W40, and their full synthetic gear oil being transported up here for the next big event (Canada), plus some of the oil additive to play with on my lawn mower (first), and van (distant second).

That's all the info I have - other than the valvetrain looks pristine in the motor I'm using it in - it feels slick between your fingers like something around a 30wt castor oil - has an "odd" smell - and cleans tools really well when trying to wipe the film of it off - oh - and hard to wash off your hands, plus makes it hard to hold on to tools when on your hands.

I used to use it alot in my 2001 Honda civic. It is a very thin 20 weight oil. I got noticeably better mileage using this oil. Reason I stopped using it was because too expensive to ship to Canada (couldnt find in Canada). Highly recommend it.
