As usual, high fuel is showing but the truck runs great and the oil level is not rising on the dipstick. Without any symptoms Ford Canada will not look into the injectors.
I can't alter my driving habits, I do a lot of stop and go with a 1-2 idle time so I guess I'll have to live with the fuel.

On the upside, the iron and lead are nice and low, I'm hoping the spike in the sodium is from the winter road salt.
I didn't mean to extend the OCI, it looks like 5K miles is the reasonable limit for this oil/contamination.

Comments welcome.

Looks real good! Iron is trending down and the fuel dilution is holding steady. The sodium is indeed likely from road salt. I've noticed the same results when I do UOA's in the winter. If you had a coolant leak you see a corresponding (and much larger) spike in potassium.

Any particular reason your mixing the 2 XD3's? Just curious.

I am unhappy with the fuel% in the oil from the 6.0L. It appears to me that the 15W-40 oil does slightly better on the fuel%.

Does the thicker oil at start up help this problem when the engine runs rich?

Is the oil fully warmed up before you change it?

TBN looks great. I would run it out even more.

Yes, engine is always warm when I change it, at least 15-20 mins of driving. Last time it was almost 1/2 hr.
I had some 15w40 around so experimented with mixing to see if my viscosity would hold up better so that I could extend the oci but it doesn't appear so.
If you look at it percentage wise, both 15w40 and the 0w30 shear about 20% from their original viscosity with the 15w40 of course having a higher final viscosity. But, the 15w40 doesn't look to be improving the wear nubmers, so I will stick with the 0w30 for the winter and maybe 0w30/0w40 mix for the summer.
I didn't see any difference in startup, if anything the engine starts better with the 0w30, most likely due to better pumpability and flow of the synhtetic oil.
The 5w40 synths are a little too expensive to use, since I drive a lot and can get the 0w30 or 0w40 for about $4.50 Cnd/L.
I'm a little hesitant to go further into the oci. Tried that once at 9900km and the oil sheared below 9.

Understand.

Take a look at Go Hogs Go UOA with the Schaeffers 9000 5W-40. I wonder if you iron would decrease and I bet that the oil would not shear as much?

Do you use a fuel additive?

I use the Fuel Power and Racor conditioner/cetane improver.

I probably would benefit from any synthetic 5w40 in terms of shearing but I can't find any synthetics here for less than $7-8/L, almost double the cost of the XD-3 0w30/0w40. At 14-15L per oil change, that adds up pretty quick.
