This is just a fun and silly question. My MIL has a CRV with 72k miles. The oil was changed about 2k miles and 18 months ago. She hasn't driven in four months but lately we use that CRV to cart her to Doctors appointments. Presently it is down 1/2 quart.

I have a lot of open containers on hand. These inlue
  • 0w-16 HPL Premium Plus
  • 0w-20 HPL Premium Plus
  • 5w-30 Valvoline Restore and Prootect
  • 10w-30 Mobil1 High Mileage
  • 15w-40 Rtotella T6
This vehicle isn't like;y to see another 2k miles before we sell it. The oils above are all on hand and thus a sunk cost. Please think of this as if this vehicle might might be in your driveway a month or two from now. A half quart is unlikely to make much of a difference. As I said above, this is both a fun and silly question.

5-30 VRP.
Agree, since MIL does 2k in 18months, I would do an annual OC for a VRP cleanup. It will be the next Presidential election before u notice any reduction in oil consumption. Lol

Since Valvoline is currently running a $5 rebate, u could pickup four 5qt jugs. There is a household address maximum of 6 jugs.

This vehicle will be in the used car market pretty soon. Per the original question, what oil would you want to see it topped off with should it end up being yours?

This is just a lightheated question for fun. That and just which open container to use...

K24 engine. A real transmission.AWD... Top off with VRP 5-30 ......... 72k ? Lemme know when it's for sale. I'm not far....Upper Westchester County,...New York. You're in PA. I'm not joking either. My 13' CRV AWD EXL has 614,905k....Ready to crap the bed.... :( Need a replacement...

It's a plain ole 2012 fuel infected K24 Honda engine with a throttle body..... Not GDI. Says 0W20 on the oil cap, so a 5W-30 will work just fine. It's only a 1/2 quart we're talkin about here for a top off. Being that the car is not used much, the VRP 5W30 will be fine. 2k in 18 months is not much use, with 72k on the ODO........ Just what I'm lookin for to replace my tired 13' CRV with 614,905k on the ODO. That's when my eyes opened up when Astro Guy said it will be on the used car market soon. I'm interested in purchasing when the time comes. He had said in a few months. I can't afford a new car, and I can work on these. They are fairly simple machines. My 13' CRV, with those miles, is not trustworthy anylonger. The wife needs something trustworthy to get back and forth to work, albeit it's only a 30 mile round trip. Peace of mind. Don't want a phone call from the wife, @ 7am, that the engine or tranny blew on the way to work.
