No, I have not had tools stolen, but.
Years ago my Brother did.
He gave the Police a 'partial' list of what was stolen.
Some time later, the Police called him saying, "we found your tools".
My Brother went to the Police Station, but was not able to get ALL his tools back.
Why ? He only gave the Police a partial list.
Suggestion to all who carry tools in their work trucks:
Make a list of all tools and their Serial Numbers NOW, before their stolen.
Then if ever needed, the Police won't have to wait for it.
Photos are good also, but you can't beat Serial Numbers for positive ID.
Work trucks are parked out-side of homes or in parking lots where an opportunist will walk by and grab anything.
I have also done this for anything in my house with Model/Serial Numbers.
Will come in handy in case of Fire or Theft.
1) Small Household Items
2) Large Household Items
3) Electronics
4) Tools
Once you have made the initial list, it's not much effort to maintain.
