Tool To Read TPMS Sensor

That reads TPMS?

Typically you would need the handheld unit you take to each tire.

They have more expensive ones.. also that particular model only works on their brand aftermarket tpms and OEM.

Depends on the car make.

Carista is an example of a somewhat universal tool, a bluetooth dongle and phone app. They get you by leasing the use of the software per week when you need it.

If you imagine being able to walk around your car and scan the sensors standing next to them, they don't make a cheap universal tool for that (yet). As a tire standing still, not losing air, has no reason to transmit frequently you might only get one "blip" every 5 or 30 minutes. You need the car's TPMS computer to be always on, listening, so they can remember the last "ping". The sensors do wake up and transmit in a panic if the tire starts losing air, however. This is used by some GMs to program new sensors without any tools at all.

Actually that was kind of what I was looking for. I remember seeing something like that but can’t remember where. I’ve seen dealerships do it when checking serial numbers, gives the info about the sensor, battery level, pressure, etc.

^ There's a good chance it's a hybrid system, with an OBD-II connection as well. There are several aftermarket "cloning" computers that make that brand's semi-universal replacement sensor act like an OE sensor. So the part where the tech holds the computer close to the tire is writing info to the sensor, or communicating with it at "BIOS-level" whilst the OBD part is seeing how the car computer likes the new sensors. These things are expensive and lock you into a brand of sensor. If you were investing into one as a home-gamer hoping to pay back in a decade, it would be obsolete in a decade. You'd also probably want your own tire mounting and balancing equipment.

I HAVE the mounting and balancing stuff, and cobbled together TPMS stuff for Toyota and GM. TBH it's keeping me buying those makes, which allows me most of what I need from motor vehicles, LOL.

You'd need a dedicated TPMS tool (barring some cars that'll give PSI readouts in live data)

Consider the Autel line (TS408/TS508)
Or XTool TP150

I recently upgraded, and plan on moving my TS508WF on

Hello Oil Wizard, I just bought the pro version of this app and can't seem to find the TPMS data. Any tips on where to find it? I have a Gen 3 Prius.
Any help would be welcome.

Hello!

In the app, under "All sensors" use the filter at the top and filter for keyword "pressure"..

After that, you should see somewhere in the list, left front, right front, etc. with a psi value. You may need to scroll quite a bit to find it.
