The first real effect BITOG had on me was shopping for deals on oil. The second was convincing me, long a Wix/Napa Gold user, that other filters can not only be used, but trusted to do a good job as well. This weekend, I used the first of 4 AAP filters I bought during last month's sale. It's sort of a strange feeling, kind of like like inching out onto ice of an unknown thickness...but I'm trying to remember that they ARE okay for my 3K OCIs.

Deep breaths and baby steps...

Right?!

With that said, it was cool to do a MC 5W-20 OC for under $12.

I only have to buy the oil now, and then my AAP filters will be on. After the 3 months for that one is up I may go up to Lakeshore AP and get a couple Wix 51040s for our cars. One of the few decent things GM did was give alot of their cars the same oil filter.

The Crown Vic doesn't have an oil pressure gauge, so I couldn't see how long it took to come up to pressure the first time I started it after the oil change. But my wife's Jeep does, and when I changed the oil in it last night, using a very similar Purolator, it seemed to take a long time to come up to pressure...longer than the Wix/NapaGold I usually use.

Has anyone else had experience with a slower pressure build when using these Purolators/AAPs? At least right after startup after the OC?

Or, perhaps more realistic, am I just crazy?

I have run the AAP filters on my civic also for the past 6000 miles or so and have had no problems or sounds either.
