I can't find anything definitive on this.

My 2002 BMW 330xi has 120k miles and the trans and diff fluid have never been changed. We all know BMW calls this lifetime fluid and we all also know they only say that so they can artificially lower the cost of the maintenance schedule on their cars (at the expense of longevity).

If I want to keep the car to 200k miles am I better off changing the fluid now or rolling the dice and leaving the original fluid in?

I agree. Get some fresh fluid in there

Do they really call the diff fluid a lifetime fluid? I've only heard that term about the ATF.

+1 (I hardly if ever do this +1 stuff, but no fun not making a wise crack)

Correct it's never too late and when they say "lifetime fluid" that is such a joke no oil/fluid is lifetime.

change it out
