Long story short...turned 40 last Christmas, and some family bought me a gift experience. Lovely thought, but not one that I really wanted to do.

Through the wonders of of the internet I translated the experience into something that I had ALWAYS wanted, and will be something special to keep.

A decent chef's knife...in damascus, stainless damascus at that.

Turned up last weekend, and I used it for the first time tonight.

Scarily sharp, falls through capsicum. Chopping board copped a pizzling, scraping the chopped food up lifts shavings off the board.

I think I need meself a nice end grained chopping board now.

I caught my fingernails a couple of times, and it was a serious wake-up.

Need zen like quiet in the house in future. A couple of children in a house full of unboxed bathroom furniture with sleet/snow outside, and a bread and butter knife is digit threatening.
