I loved the thought of opening the door on a nicely warmed up car on a frosty January morning when it's about seven degrees outside. So today I had a shop install a remote starter in my 2009 5MT Accord. I had always been afraid of having one of these units installed as I did not want to have any electrical issues. The more and more I read about the topic, the sooner I learned that the concern should not be so much about the remote starter but the installer equipping your vehicle with the system.
That said, I went to my trusty iPad and i5 and searched for a week, locating a good installer. I decided to travel to Erie, PA and have Enormis Mobile Specialties install my remote starter. My appointment was for 10am and I arrived a few minutes early. Everyone at the shop was super friendly and answered all of my questions without any problem. I waited for the install in their waiting room where they had a nice TV with cable, refrigerator with some pop, water, and iced tea, and a Keurig coffee maker with a nice assortment of K-cups. I used their WiFi and browsed some oil forum on my iPad and listened to the Diary of a Madman Ozzy album, The installation took about two hours.
The starter that I had installed was an AstroStart RS-711XR. It is a one-way starter with a 2000' range.
After the installation, Mike, the manager went through all of the features on the remote starter and showed me how everything worked, what happened when you did this or that, how to arm it, etc. He was very helpful, friendly and a cool guy.
On Enormis' website, they say over and over how they take pride in their work, professionally run wires, make good connections and do not cut wires. I looked over the newly added components on my car and saw nothing but excellence. All wires that were ran under the hood were loomed beautifully and put inside of that corrugated black plastic tubing and taped. All of the wiring under my dash looks factory and neatly added/tied up. Just super happy with the install. I could have probably found a cheaper place to have this installed, or closer, but honest to god, a good install and no electrical issues is worth the drive.
The best part is how well this starter works and the fact that the install was done right. I give a big kudos and recommendation to Emormis Mobile Specialties in Erie, PA. I am vey happy and would recommend them to anyone.
