Im with chris. As long as you get it up to temp when you use it, 1 year is safe. 2 years is doable as well with a filter change. Not so much for new filter but for the new oil to top it up.

I would change it once a year.
I also believe that the topic of oil is one of the most mythical topics as its truly hard to tell what's really going on with oil in an engine - and there are ALOT of myths and wrong information. I actually had a course in school just about lubrication - and with several auto-tech classes under my belt, the topic is covered frequently. of course, with recent changes in emissions, switches to lighter oils, etc - its hard to keep pace.
seriously, other than reading TSB;s most service managers dont get training on oil. and I have heard ALOT of crazy things (regarding oil) from service managers - one of them even being a friend of mine who was a dodge service manager for 20+ years. he would not touch synthetic oil with a 10 foot pole. I just learned to smile and ignore when the topic of oil arose.

I have some vehicles that don't rack up enough miles to demand multiple changes in a year but I am a once a year regardless of low miles kind of guy. Just makes me feel like it is not getting neglected. I think the oil you are using is great for once a year at 5k.

AGREED. Even if i was using my truck as a daily driver i could never see myself letting Valvoline Synthetic stay in the sump for 10,000 even though im sure there are used oil analysis saying it can. Amsoil,Redline,RP, maybee.. I look at it like this its cheap insurance, and i enjoy changing oil. 5k IS reasonable for my truck.
