I have a 2003 4.7 V8 Toyota 4Runner with 18K on it and 6.5 quarts of Mobil 1 5W30 in it. I have not yet done a UOA but have seen many excelent reports with this combonation. I drive mostly short trips 6.5 miles to work in about 11 minutes. So sould I do a UOA on just the Mobil 1 first and then decide from the results weather or not to add LC or just go ahead and add the LC.I currently have about 3200 miles on this run of Mobil 1 in about 5 months. also no oil consumption.

If you do a uoa without LC what readings will you key on to make your decision? I use LC and FP in my 03 V8 4Runner because I have had good luck in other vehicles. I use it because I think it's cost effective, especially with short trip driving. If you are going to use it, I'd put it in right now. But, two uoa's would be interesting.

Well if the results are really good why use LC? But if Insoluables are high why not? But without a UOA it is hard to decide only on advertisements. What oil/filter are you using and at what type of interval? Short trips/long trips etc?

I picked LC and FP after talking to Terry Dyson, who was paid to test it, and others who had experience with it, including the ownere of LCD, Jeff and Lucas.

I use Red Line 5w30, an UltraFilter full flow filter and LC and FP. I'll have a uoa in a couple of momths, as I'm testing the UltraFilter, cleanable filter. I'm changing the oil and cleaning the filter at 5k intervals because of all the rough off road, dusty use. As an indicator, I have not had an air filter come close to lasting 10k miles.

My driving is a lot of short, stop and go driving, combined with two or three long trips, each month, some long road trips and other trips off road. All this combined with some heavy towing.

So far, I really like this Toyota V8 and I hope this will be a long relationship. Future plans are to install a bypass filter and a seperator in the pcv system. I'm also looking around, no for a coolant filter, like the big trucks have.
