Tires for the '08 Crown Vic

No,man. I ran them and they were very noisey at highway speeds on my 02 V6 Accord. The Accord allows more road noise thru than most cars but that's my experience with those tires. I think the GACT Tourings would be my pick for that car. DT ordered the GACT Tourings and got them in 3 days. 3 were made the same week and all were not more than about 2.5 months old. The tire rack consumer reviews are not at all accurate IMO. Tire performance is very subjective.

I'm reading reviews mostly at Discount Tire. There are more noise complaints than I'd thought on the Mich Destiny, but it still gets an average of 4.5 out of 5 stars- most with larger cars either like it or love it, and a surprising # of Honda Civics really seem to love it.

The main thing that worries me in the Goodyear Assurnce ComforTreds reviews seem to point to quality control problems- balance, etc. Still, "quiet & smooth" sounds mighty good to me.

I may even ask the folks at DT, as risky as that is. Quiet is gonna be important- Whatever goes on the car, there's a fair chance I'll drive Mom to California in it this summer. I sure don't want to listen to excessive road noise for all that way!

I've had both tires, back to back. The comfort tread is absolutely more quiet, and more comfortable than the Destiny. The set of Tourings I'm now running is the best oem balanced set of tires I've ever had. 3 tires required no balance weight and 1 tire got the smallest balance weight I've ever seen. Don't take those tire reviews literally, that's 1 reason I made the mistake of trying first the Destinys/then the Primacys in the first place. The other reason I made the mistake is that DT seems to push the Michelins vs. the Goodyears. Dt must have a better annual volume deal with Michelin vs. Goodyear.

I knew someone that got 60k out of the stock Firestone Affinities on a 2001 CV, and that was with no rotation! The alignment was always off with that car until the tires were replaced. I probably wouldnt recommend them though. They were replaced with BFG Touring TA's from sams club. I've had 3 sets of the touring TA's. They were wearing well with 32k after 5 years but one got some cracks in the side and would be replaced under warranty so I just decided to get 4 new ones. I also had them put on another vehicle recently. I think they are pretty good for the $ (around $400 for each of my cars) and would be even better if I drive them enough to wear them out before they crack.

That's the problem,Hoss. You Want the tires to wear out in 5 years so you can get your tire proration credit and get a new set of rubber on your car about every 5 years. It's the FZ1 way.
