Hey guys, our daughter has an 06 Sebring that's in need of tires.. Would like something that will get her down the road well in the majority of conditions she'll see - namely rain and snow. She's in South Sioux Nebraska, so maybe not huge amounts of snow, but it's still possible and I know she doesn't really have the means to get a set of dedicated snows in addition to summers/all seasons. Size is 205/60-16

Was thinking of the Gen RT43 as it seems to do several things reasonably well, but also the Firestone Weathergrip. The Weathergrip seems like the best option right now as it seems to cover all the bases with a significant nod towards snow. Also on my radar are Falken Sincera SN201 and SN250 Had considered the Toyo Celsius, but after having put a few sets on, I'm concerned that they won't give consistent performance as they wear since they don't have full depth siping - thoughts?

Firestone Weathergrip had the shortest stopping distance on ice per Tirerack.com. Beating the GY Assurance Weatheready by a few feet. Only a test of four tires and forget the other two.

General released the Altimax 365AW last year, and it's a 3-peak tire. It is available in your size 205/60-16 :)
Ahhh yes, good point, though I just looked and for some reason my suppliers don't offer that particular one?? Will do some looking

edit: just dug up the p/n for them and searched my suppliers and both are goose eggs.. If we went that way, we'd have to order from tire rack or equivalent

I'd get one of the all weather tires. Take your pick on which one. Spending a few more bucks beats dealing with an accident.

OK, so I found them - so them through tire rack and Amazon... So input on the 365AW and Weathergrip?

Here's the 365:

Can't beat this price for an all-inclusive package (e.g. lifetime flat repairs, pro-rated road hazard and lifetime rebalance):

Most chains will match the Costco quote if you bring it to them.

I hadn't considered the Michelin.. By the looks of it, it won't do as well in the snow and ice as the Weathergrip or 365AW??

SatinSilver, thanks for the pics! They both look the same, so judging by the Weathergrip (I've seen a couple in the wild) I'd say that they both have full depth siping - It's kind of a stretch, I know...

Probably not, but the Defender T+H compares very well against the RT43 and SN250 tires. It is tough to beat the all-in price from Costco.

The 365AW is a 3pmsf rated tire. Michelin's CrossClimate2 is most comparable in that category.

Price isn't so much of a thing for me since I've got accounts with ATD and US Auto force and my cost is generally similar to online pricing.

I'm inclined to stick with the Weathergrip or 365AW since either will give her improved snow prowess over a typical all season, even if it doesn't snow a huge amount... All it takes is one time and some crappy roads to get caught out and cause an accident or not be able to avoid one.

Can you get any of the other all weather tires..
Goodyear Weatherready
hankook 4S2
nokian WRG4
Michelin CC2

Price would be a factor for me.. and non-directional a bonus.

With some looking I'm sure I could. What are your thoughts on them? I haven't been the biggest Goodyear fan, but how would the Goodyears or any of the others compare to the Weather grip or 365AW?

In that case, I would look into the Crossclimate2. I have been happy with them on my in-law’s Camry for dry and wet conditions, but we do not get any snow here.

Is it even economical for you to order your own? Once you include the value of road hazard insurance, it is tough to beat the value proposition of Costco or any of the big-name chains.
