Tires choices for Ford Edge

I recommend not getting non name brand tires, also do not get store exclusive tires even if name brand.

Why? if you end up getting a flat that is non repairable and that tire is not readily available or no longer produced you are SOL. For example my truck has Goodyear Viva 3's, 1 tire is bad all the other 3 are perfectly fine only about 8,000 miles on them but Walmart discontinued the Viva 3 so I am SOL and need to buy all 4 new tires because mix-matching tires in the long term impacts fuel mileage and strains the drivetrain especially in AWD/4WD applications.

As a result I am getting Toyo Extensa II which are readily available and not discontinued nor are they exclusive to any store.

You might think well I can save a lot going with these cheap brands, but in the end you might end up paying more.

Interesting you mention that. I have a neighbor with Viva 3s and had the same issue. He just went back to Walmart and got the closest Goodyear possible (I think it is an Assurance one)

I’ve considered Those new Goodyears, as they look quite nice, and a good price

Whoever coined the phrase “You get what you pay for” was talking about tires at the time.

I get trying to save a buck but jumping up to Uniroyals, Generals etc. would be money well spent.

Follow up to my G5's we've not tested the G5's yet cause we've been buying up the remaining G4's which have been discontinued. But I suspect the G5's are just as good if not better than the G4's as the G5's have a different wet weather tread design.

Did you change your location or move? :sneaky:

I thought you were in the northeast, where all-weather tires would go to the top of the list.

I have experience with Fortune tires (another brand made by Prinx, though not the all-weather tires), and there is nothing especially wrong with them.

Prinx/Fortune also uses a 2-ply sidewall :)

FWIW, Evoluxx is made by Linglong

If price is a concern and you don’t need to make an immediate purchase, I would recommend waiting for sales. Sometimes Walmart will randomly (and very briefly) have an insane deal on a really good tire. I was considering the all weather options from Prinx, Fortune, and Radar for my CR-V, but ended up getting a set of Nordman Solstice 4 tires back in April for $81 each on Walmart.com. I looked again a few hours after ordering and the these tires were back up to $119, and today they are $154.

In general tires are in the "you get what you pay for" category. Off brand tires usually have mediocre performance. But I see you aren't in a snowy state so it may not be as big of an issue.

I'm more a believer of the "you don't get what you don't pay for" category. There sure is overcharging going on.

I'm sorry guys I stopped getting notifications for some reason.. thank you for your responses, I'm going to hold down, till I can get something a little bit better..

4th of July coming up in a few weeks, there's also Labor Day and Black Friday (depending on how long you can wait). Those are usually when the sales are

I had Cross Climate Michellins on my Focus. They were not cheap. I was getting to the 5 year plus point on them. So I was thinking about tires. Last fall I pulled the trigger on some Wally Goodyear Reliant tires. They were just over $50 per tire on sale. I did not need the 3 peak tires I had on before. Retired, plus got a 4x4 truck now.

Tires seem OK.

I'm trying to get my daughter to get new tires on her 17 Edge. I thought her tires were 24560R18 sized? I thought about some Reliants for her Edge, but I rather she get some 3 peak tires.
