tire upgrade for 2025 Elantra Limited

Don't have to worry about rim shatter from potholes or curb rash as much since fatter tires tend to stick out and the rim edge is higher up so it's protected better.
But dropping down from 17" wheels to 15" I would think would like a bit odd on the 2025 Elantra. 16" would be perfect, but I dont know about dropping all the way to 15" on this particular car.

Did you drive it and find the ride terrible or just looking at reader opinion on TireRack?

Did you try lower level Elantra with 16” wheels to see if more pleasant a ride ? If not comfortable tires will never matter.
Yes I did. I test drove the SEL with 16" and the Limited with 17" and I felt a bit more comfortable ride on the 16".

Looked up pics of a new elantra with 15 inch alloys and they look nice imo and overall it looks good. They don't look odd or out of place in any way. If anything seeing more sidewall makes it look like a bigger car to me.

Go on the Tire Rack and look at tire diameters. 205/55R16 is 24.9". Your OE tire size diameter is 25.0". 835 vs 832 RPM on a Conti True Contact Tour 54. Conti makes an H and a V rated tire in both sizes so be careful and don't put your faith in a tire salesman. Doing your own research is your friend. I'd just get the Trim with the 16" tires unless you really gotta have the Limited.

I think 33 P.S.I. is the recommended T.P.. It was 33 for the '18 HYUNDAI Accent and it's 33 for both new '25 KIA Souls . I keep tire pressure 3 > 4 over 33 P.S.I..

Recommend tire pressure for the 2017 ELantra is 36 PSI for all 4 tires,

Hi,

I am considering purchasing a 2025 Hyundai Elantra Limited. The car comes with tire size 225/45/17, and I believe that is considered high profile. I would like to be able to switch out this size for one with a bit more higher/taller side wall for a bit more smoother, comfortable ride. What size, if any, that I can move up to
that will NOT negatively effect my speedometer?
Or if this is not possible, what more premium touring tire of the same size would be a huge upgrade from the HORRIBLE low end Kumho Solus Majesty tires than come on the car. Tire Rack has them ranked at the absolute bottom of the barrel in their category!

Thanks
Michael in NJ
The lower end models usually have smaller wheels with higher profile tires. Check that out. I would not buy a new car that did not ride comfortably, then try to "Fix" the ride quality. .02

There is probably something wrong with her car, maybe suspension issues. My 2017 ELantra Value Edition rides beautifully, with 99,315 miles. But I baby my car and drive very conservatively.View attachment 279732
That's a clean car looks great. Nothing is wrong with the car I actually just had put on 4 new Pirelli P4 assist 195/65/15 took off Michelin Cross climate and changed the 3 coils had a misfire in cylinder 4 already changed out one coil for the same reason. It's a cheap SE model probably no sound insulation in the car definitely not luxury machine. It definitely rides better than my work beater. But I'm use to driving bigger more luxury vehicles so that's why the Elantra feels like a tin can to me. But the Elantra has been a solid living on campus college car for my youngest it's been reliable and great on gas. Now the hard part is getting my car back from her now the Elantra is fixed she's loving it

Iirc my accord hybrid is 225/50-17. Had huge success with michelin energy saver as in that size on NJ roads and weather conditions…

Our 2025 Honda HRV EX-L came with unbelievably bad Hancook Synergy GT's, after 1 month the dealer exchanged them for Continental TrueContact Tour 54's. Read the reviews on tire rack, night and day difference in ride comfort, quietness, and dry handling. Wet traction is unbelievable and even light snow was effortless. Still 17" rims, but a really good set of tires can make a world of difference. I run Continental Extremecontact DWS06 plus on my Civic Touring Sedan, 18" wheels 235/40/18's tires. Quiet, comfortable and everything you'd hope for with a High-performance All-season tire. The handling is exceptional and very reassuring on trips. Continentals have been a good choice for us, completely satisfactory, Michelin also has worked well for us. The quality and characteristics of tires is pretty well defined by actual testing which Tire Rack does.

I too think 205/55-16 would be a good choice, still very responsive to steering but with taller sidewall and good selection of tires in that size at lower price.
