These tires are fairly new I'm assuming they have warranty at Walmart but i don't have receipt. I’m wondering if it’s something i could patch for 2 weeks i drive often to work. I really don’t want to buy a new tire.

I hate to be "that guy" but if Discount Tire won't touch it, it's time to move on and replace the tire. Your safety isn't worth the risk/cost savings.

That said, many tire manufactures and/or retailers have road hazard warranty included with your purchase. Worth checking into.

You could put a plug in that hole to get you by for a little while but I would strongly suggest you put that wheel on the back if you do. Replacing it, of course, is the right things to do. I don't think a tire shop will apply a patch if it has to wrap around the side wall.

Would I? Yes
Should You? Probably not
Exactly, for me, pre Costco where now it’s covered automatically (we’ve had 2 tires replaced because not serviceable like the one shown, and at least 4 more patched from inside out).

Not as severe but definitely close to the edge I’ve plugged 2 tires. My experience was when on the rear no issues. When on the front they would lose pressure and I’d have to regularly keep adding air. Definitely be careful the straight answer is no.

Walmart should be able to look up the tire purchase if the buyer provided them and they entered the phone number correctly.

The tire warranty depends on a few things. Did you get a tire warranty or does the manufacture provide one? A few brands like Continental come with a limited road hazard warranty when purchased at an authorized retailer.

I plugged this Hankook in 2022 on my SIL's car. It held air at the same rate as her other tires.

As noted, puncture outside zone/area of for true USTMA plug/patch repair. ~20 years ago before Discount Tire opened a store nearby, I'd likely have used rope/string repair (as show above) for some period of time. Now that I buy exclusively from DT, I'd just take it to them, for a prorated roadhazard/treadwear price on a new tire. Best bet imo, bite the bullet and get a new matching tire asap.

Can and should are different things. You "Can" plug that. You "Shouldn't" try to repair that. People do a lot of things they shouldn't do.

The worst thing that will probably happen with that plugged tire is, you may over time, develop a slow leak. 🥱
Within about 1 month of buying our new 2023 VENZA, I got a screw in the outside tread block only about 1/2” inward from where yours is Skyactiv. I plugged it and it was fine for about 1year where it had developed a tiny/slow leak. So, I pushed in the old plug and plugged it again and it’s fine thus far.
