Just in case others read this in the future:
There were two problems with my digital gauge. One was that the results were not very repeatable. It was annoying enough it got stashed away for a number of years. Last year I dug it out again and planned on giving it to someone to keep in their car - but, it was still very erratic in its readings. I actually ended up going out and buying a dial gauge because it kept saying a tire was 15 psi low, then 7 psi low, then 5 psi high, etc.
I called Griots Garage to see what might be going on and the customer service rep mentioned that if the battery was low, it could read erratically. The problem is that the battery is not "user-serviceable" on these units. However, the rep told me how to take it apart and replace the battery. Did that, still didn't work.
Of course Griots Garage is always a pleasure to deal with and they refunded the purchase price (which was a number of years ago).
