Im awaiting my recently ordered Pirelli P7 tires and overheard that you should be easy on them the first 500 or so miles. Any recommendations?

The only thing I do is drive carefully until the release agent is worn away on the tread. The the release agent is applied to the tire mold before vulcanization to keep the tire from sticking to the mold. A new tire will feel slick until the release agent is worn off.

Some tires are now being made without a slippery release agent. If you don't know your new tires have this non-slippery stuff, followy jhs's advice.

I drive easy the first hundred miles, no jack-rabbit acceleration, no hard cornering, no hard braking ...
