Hello all. The '93 G-20 van needs new sparkplug wires,I'll be replacing the plugs also but that's another topic.Dollar/f/Dollar,I would like some suggestions on what you think is a great plugwire.
Here's whats close
NAPA
A/Z
Advance
or ,I could order a quality set online
Just looking for the best value not just the lowest price.Let'r rip.

I've done BOSCH in 2 Taurus's and I haven't had a problem.
Typically parts stores carry "cheap" wires and "expensive" wires. The only difference being the insulation around the wires.

I like having "expensive" wires due to that insulation. I'd prefer to troubleshoot and replace plugs (platinum) every 90,000 to 100,000 miles then have a check engine light come on due to a misfire from the insulation having worn off in some strange location.

Normally the difference is $10-$20 so I figure I get the cost per mile is small.
Never had a problem with BOSCH wire sets, but then again I don't service cars day in and day out.

GM OEM uses a decent cable that can go 100+ miles.Maybe something to consider?
I have used both Bosch and Autolite professional and had no problems with either them.

If you must change the spark plug wires, I would go with OEM or NGK wires ONLY. I have had too many problems with other brands in the past, including BOSCH.

I don't know, but they sure are pricey these days. Make sure to use some dielectric grease so that when you go to service the plugs, you have a better chance of getting the wire off without breaking it. (It just happened to me.)

Cheap wire sets are those that break when you go to remove them...

Why NGK? just curious

FWIW, I have experience with three sets of AZ wires for three different cars and have had no issues over maybe a combined 80,000 miles. That is not significant when talking about the life of a wire of course, but at least I'm paying attention, lol.

SP wires in a van wear out faster then in other applications. The extremely limited space under the engine cover bakes them to an early death.

I have been through at least 6 sets in my Dodge van in the last 10 years. My latest are the 8 mm 35$ Taylors from Summitt. They are now almost 4 years old, and the best set of wires I have used on my Van, by far.

I like pulling the insulation off the old wires and doubling it up in areas where the new wires might chafe or touch grounded metal, or the engine cover itself.

Like their spark plugs they are FLAWLESS!!! Never in the 20 yrs that I have used NGK or Denso products have i had a Missfire with a bad plug or wire set. PERIOD. Cant say that for many other brands, INCLUDING Magnecors.

Best Products for the money are NGK's or Denso.

Those fancy NAPA blue ones are great looking but get brittle over 30k making reuse iffy. Like an idiot I lost the receipt.

They work great until they fail, IOW, the insulation holds up in the rain.

I got NAPA wires a few years ago for the Suburban. They are blue and I believe a company called Belden makes them. They seem to be a good quality wire.
