I’ve noticed this various Times and even knew someone who bought 200 gallons of it in 2008 when diesel was -$5 a gallon.

My question is if I were to use this as a mild top end lube in a gas or diesel what would be the treatment dose?

If it makes my lawnmowers exhaust smell better that’s even better. (Treatment rates linked in the discussion below require $$$ it appears).

But I’m guessing MMO treatment rates should be safe for gas or diesel (diesel is antique NA from the 80’s)

Ingredients is well over 99% mineral oil with a small amount of aromatics like citronella. Some say it’s just white gas or kerosene which theoretically could be used in larger amounts.

@Rmay635703 You are making a lot of assumptions here such as connecting MMO treatment rates with this lamp oil.

I would not use since you don't know how the Citronella additive will affect fuel injectors, fuel pumps, etc.

As to the question of UCL as discussed here,

https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/upper-cylinder-lubricant-which-best-brand.358647/

It was determined that the engine oil lubricates the whole cylinder.

I am making fewer assumptions than you think.

This would not be used in a fuel injected gas engine , also worth noting

The additives including citronella are all oils, the base appears to be #2 Kerosene albeit de-odored. (Similar to white gas) with a bit of 3 in 1 light oil. Kerosene generally lowers octane less than true oil.

I’ve found some folks who already ran it at 100% in lister diesels and the AFR and compression fully burn the citronella oil such that the exhaust is indistinguishable in both odor and makeup from kerosene.

Which in my case isn’t what I want, considering it’s cheaper than actual fuel I would like if it smogged while I mowed since bugs are thick around here but it burns too cleanly for that to happen.

Citronella being an caustic aromatic oil at worst behaves like a solvent that could age o-rings and rubber.
