TiGeo has a new knee

Take care man..

And if you have a family history of blood clots.. Withoir question… follow the physician orders for preventative medication.

You being already in good shape prior to this surgery will make your recovery process way, way easier on you.

Total knee replacement complete today. In and out in 4 hours. My guy does 700+ knee/hips a year here in central VA. I had a horrible injury 25 years ago...tibial plateu fracture with associated ACL/PCL/meniscus damage. Took mos. to recover but did get back to full activity...racing mountainbikes, snowboarding, name it. Lots of field work as a geologist. Flash forward to 2023...

About 2 years ago the arthritis was getting bad with lots of general pain/discomfort. My cartilage was actually coming out on the side...when it came out low I couldn't straighten my leg...came out high couldn't bend it. Had to push it back in. Awful and limited my field work and general mood. Could no longer ride mt bikes or walk my dog. Driving no issue. Saw my guy...MRI...no fix...replace it was recommendation. Diclofenac (Voltarin) was amazing and helped with pain/discomfort but not the acute mechanical joint issue.

Back home. Can walk with a walker..modern medicine is amazing 💪🙏🤘 Shooting to do an autocross in August. Peace.

Praying you have a great recovery sir 🙏🏻😍

Im downstairs tonight but did stairs to get in the house today. I was using Voltarin gel for a while. I overdid it and have a strange/rare condition that didn't play well with the topical....I'll stick with oral when I can resume using it. Tylenol and Oxy for now. I also have this ice machine...works great.

Not sure if this has been said but with the knee cooler thing buy two igloo reusable freeze packs and rotate them in and out of the freezer instead of using ice. They cool for about 4 hours and you don't have to deal with adding ice.

I use small frozen bottles of water.

Just past a week post-surgery. Had first "real" PT yeaterday...1 hour. Can get 75 deg bend...increased 15 deg since first visit. Worked me. Still sleeping on first floor because it's just easier/more comfortable. Basically off narcotics but still using sporadically as-needed because when pain is making you feel nauseous you have to manage that. Post-surgery visit with the surgeon's PA next Monday then get the dressing off. Can shower every other day now (quick!). Hope to transition to a cane in the next week from the walker. Once off narcotics completely and using a cone will try driving. End update from KCE.
