TiGeo has a new knee

The few times I agree with AM

I thought you were maybe 26

No matter get better quickly and heal fast! My younger brother got a hip and he recovered quickly faster than this blasted hernia patch

Keep moving!!
Had the umbilical hernia patch last year...child's play for this 52 err 26 year old!

Good luck with your recovery and PT.

I go for my fourth set of Gel One shots tomorrow afternoon.
Doesn't work for everyone but it does for me. Each knee every 8 months or so. Takes around 6-8 days to really take effect...up to 30 days for some folks. I feel fortunate that it works...in and out in 20 minutes. Covered 100% by Medicare every 6 months.
That wasn't even an option for me.

Best wishes! I'm similar in age and bone/bone in my left knee. I can still ride (MT and some road bike) just fine, thank God! It won't be long for me! I'll be pestering you via PM to hear about recovery and long-term thoughts.

Nice! Inguinal at near 67 - and it will be 30 days Thursday since surgery - still certain positions tender and lift limited. Every day a bit better.
Umbilical? Mine as I recall wasn't bad. Of course sleeping was challenging w/r to getting in/out of bed. 67...Boomer town 🤣

Cool. Bone on bone arthritis issue was v. manageable with Diclofenac and of it was only that I would have waited. The completely wrecked meniscus was my issue.

No, inguinal on the right lower side, near the vitals..........and very strong thigh muscles. The patch and stitching of patch take a while to settle in. Hurts to sit, to walk 1 miles, now 2 miles, working my way up with overdoing it.

Man...I remember when my dad had a double hernia repaired in the groin. Not a fun recovery for him. Umbilical was unremarkable.

Coming up on 24 hrs post-op. Big ace bandage off. Nerve block still in effect but should wear off today is my guess. Elevation, ice machine, and compression doohickies all firing. Took a trip to the second floor; tomorrow I'll head to the third floor where my office is. Alexa playing me some Screaming Trees. Had a good breakfast and lunch. Life is good....now to be able to go #2 🤣🤣🤣

Total knee replacement complete today. In and out in 4 hours. My guy does 700+ knee/hips a year here in central VA. I had a horrible injury 25 years ago...tibial plateu fracture with associated ACL/PCL/meniscus damage. Took mos. to recover but did get back to full activity...racing mountainbikes, snowboarding, name it. Lots of field work as a geologist. Flash forward to 2023...

About 2 years ago the arthritis was getting bad with lots of general pain/discomfort. My cartilage was actually coming out on the side...when it came out low I couldn't straighten my leg...came out high couldn't bend it. Had to push it back in. Awful and limited my field work and general mood. Could no longer ride mt bikes or walk my dog. Driving no issue. Saw my guy...MRI...no fix...replace it was recommendation. Diclofenac (Voltarin) was amazing and helped with pain/discomfort but not the acute mechanical joint issue.

Back home. Can walk with a walker..modern medicine is amazing 💪🙏🤘 Shooting to do an autocross in August. Peace.

All the best, brother. You are the newest person i know, of many to have done either knees or shoulder.

My mom has had both her knees done and my dad has had his left and will get his right done in a few months. He's extremely active and the knee replacement was a Godsend for him.

Im downstairs tonight but did stairs to get in the house today. I was using Voltarin gel for a while. I overdid it and have a strange/rare condition that didn't play well with the topical....I'll stick with oral when I can resume using it. Tylenol and Oxy for now. I also have this ice machine...works great.

Have they had you started trying to have it elevated yet? We had a trapezoid foam like pillow and it helped keep her leg at a certain angle and then I had an old leather belt and I tied it to her foot so that when she wanted to adjust it she could just pull on the Belt and then readjust her pillows

Yes. Elevation/ice. I have 5 excersises I do, one with a belt. I just use a few small/narrow pillows. I am on my third floor typing this, made it up/down no issues.

^Yes. Be glad you're a healthy specimen, TiGeo. The fitter and more flexible you are going into recovery, the better.

My doc noted my gorgeous physique and overall sound health, "...makes you a prime candidate for same day release.", he said whilst scheduling my right hip replacement.
That was sooooooooo beneficial.

Screaming Trees huh?
I knew there was a reason I thought you were okay. Nearly lost you.
Anyway, I wish you a quick and full recovery.
It does sound like you are well on the way.
Best wishes!

Saw them in college (came to our small VA school) around '93. Great band.
