Everyone is different. We'll see how I do.Good luck! My wife has traditionally done exceptionally well with surgery and had a total knee replacement in February 2025 and the post-op kinda sucked. It was just much more pain than she anticipated for longer than she anticipated and meds didn't really touch it. Sleep was by far her biggest issue. That said, by 2 months post-op she was hiking again pain-free and she hikes 2-3 miles 2-3x per week now pain-free. Still some issues putting direct pressure on her knee (kneeling) but she has no pain during walking.
My knee was in rough shape, damaged from a lifetime (15 years old) of sports. 1st they removed a ping-pong ball size "growth" from torn cartiledge and debris fron the back side of the knee. Then from the front they shaved the bottom of the knee cap ro return it to a comma shape (as viewed from a side x-ray). Moved the large lower tendon down and towards the inside to stabilize the knee, and reinforced the top inside of the knee cap.How did that even work back then?
The ice packs will be your friend. She had hers done three weeks ago and was walking up stairs by that evening. Voltaren is a great cream, made in Israel but dont over apply as it has some side effects. PT for her is three times a week. I genuinely can attest, a nurse is a horrible patient. Get well, ill get some small guage needles of Liquimoly Ceratec ready just in case your knee start to squeak.Total knee replacement complete today. In and out in 4 hours. My guy does 700+ knee/hips a year here in central VA. I had a horrible injury 25 years ago...tibial plateu fracture with associated ACL/PCL/meniscus damage. Took mos. to recover but did get back to full activity...racing mountainbikes, snowboarding, name it. Lots of field work as a geologist. Flash forward to 2023...
About 2 years ago the arthritis was getting bad with lots of general pain/discomfort. My cartilage was actually coming out on the side...when it came out low I couldn't straighten my leg...came out high couldn't bend it. Had to push it back in. Awful and limited my field work and general mood. Could no longer ride mt bikes or walk my dog. Driving no issue. Saw my guy...MRI...no fix...replace it was recommendation. Diclofenac (Voltarin) was amazing and helped with pain/discomfort but not the acute mechanical joint issue.
Back home. Can walk with a walker..modern medicine is amazingShooting to do an autocross in August. Peace.

I use Squirt and Rock n' Roll but with this now...I'll discuss with them on my monthly sponsorship call.
Im downstairs tonight but did stairs to get in the house today. I was using Voltarin gel for a while. I overdid it and have a strange/rare condition that didn't play well with the topical....I'll stick with oral when I can resume using it. Tylenol and Oxy for now. I also have this ice machine...works great. The ice packs will be your friend. She had hers done three weeks ago and was walking up stairs by that evening. Have you watched any of my YT videos? You can see me in all my glory there as well. @karstgeo72. Mediocre content for the discerning BITOGer...Wow. Never pictured that’s what you looked like! Haha. Not going to lie I thought that was you in your avatar for a while before it changed. But on a serious note glad it went well and glad you’re doing well. I didn’t know you could recover that much that quickly.
Ok BeavisGlad to see you did not die and stuff.
I will be needing your same procedure in the future.
The few times I agree with AMWow. Never pictured that’s what you looked like! Haha. Not going to lie I thought that was you in your avatar for a while before it changed. But on a serious note glad it went well and glad you’re doing well. I didn’t know you could recover that much that quickly.
