So we go, me and the Mrs to a thrift store,,,wow,,I wanted a suit, what kind,,its was a toss up, So here is this suit , dark blue with pin stripes,,,says Graham and Gunn on the inside coat....price was .....six dollars and fifty cents,,,that's right $6.50 Hey for $6.50 if I ruin it, I won't be to upset Have no clue what it originally sold for new, but I look like a lawyer in it,, lol...It was a field trip day indeed....we will go again soon, you never know what's there..

I find almost new dress shirts for $6-$9 dollars at my local Goodwill and rarely shop the Macy's of the world where I'd pay $25 or more....along with current ties that go for $5 dollars plus that would be more than twice that at a big retailer. I've never really looked at their suits although I see some brand names in good condition although definitely not $6.50.. I draw the line at shorts although the last time I was in there I bought two tee shirts ( visually new ) for $3.00 as they were running a 50% off sale. Try that at a chain retailer. The way I look at it is that if you want / need something stylish you shop the name retailers...if you need a replacement or otherwise not particular, Thrift stores are worth the effort.

There are 4 "Thrift Shops" in my circle.
One funds aid to patients in 3 hospitals.
One funds an animal shelter.
One is for a religious house, Jewish
One is for a religious house, Methodist

Good stuff in all of them, however, never any oil.

My wife and I like to go to thrift stores occasionally. An interesting one to hit up if one is near you despite your feelings is the Out Of The Closet Thrift Store.
I scored a apparently new Red Hat Linux t-shirt for $3 at one.

I bought some 300 piece puzzles for MUM and 2 pr shoes for me. $24 at Savers in Plymouth. It is for the Epilepsy Foundation. Still wearing out work uniforms , so I don't need clothes. But when I do... At the shipyard I bought a Harris tweed Knee length overcoat that fit perfectly for 2 bucks.

I go to the Goodwill Computer Works stores...

Last visit bagged 17 ink cartridges for $50, these retail for $12.50 to $15 each...

These are specialty Goodwill stores, there is one in Richmond, Virginia, and one in Hampton, Virginia, near the Coliseum...

You can find all kinds of things at thrift stores and the hunt is always entertaining.
We have many Riedel tasting glasses bought on half price days for fifty cents, or how about some Wedgwood Queensware salad plates for a buck and a half?
If you need or want a new crock pot, bread maker or rice cooker these are thrift store staples as are coffee makers.
If you're a sweater guy during the cold months as I am, these stores typically have a good selection for cheap.
I bought a gorgeous cashmere jacket at one for six bucks.
Problem is that it's usually too warm in any venue to wear it, LOL.
Fun to shop these stores and you will find the killer deal now and then.

The thrift store has been a great place for me as I buy temporary clothes. I've gone from a tight 38" waist to a comfortable 34" in the past 9 months.

Anything that was a big 38" - 40" went to my step son. The rest donated.

Shirts will be going soon, but I'll buy those new. I probably won't get smaller than a Large-Tall. So my XLT clothes will probably get donated, save for a few dry-fit shirts and my Duluth Trader Bare Naked Shirts I'll keep for workouts until they just wear out.

I hit up the local thrift stores looking for classic golf clubs. Occasionally find something fun like a Elvis jukebox salt and pepper shakers or a Jerry doll for $3.

I donate a lot of clothes, electronics, sporting goofs stuff through Disabled Veterans. I wonder where they wind up. Lately with deaths in the family, I have unloaded a lot of clothes, suits and shoes in great condition.
