I'll be giving the mods a short break from feeling compelled to proofread all my posts for a week or so. I'm sure they can use a breather. :) Not sure when I'm leaving. Hopefully by the middle of the week. I got my passports ready to go. My US passport was just renewed and the UK one is only 4 years old. Newly issued non-EU ones have been blue since 2020. Who wants a gift upon my return? Now that IS a question.

Why is the Death Star glowing? This is a question.
Actually I wish I had a real camera for that shot - well I am unsure how to capture it. The sun was pure blood red and HUGE to the naked eye, probably at least three diameters as shown all the same deep but bright blood red. AMAZING. Woke the wife from her Olympic fantasy life to come take a look.

From Canada and US fire smoke, NOx pollution, etc I just stood there, as the air temp was a quite nice 72°F

With the latitudinal stripe and the darker outline the sun has a very peculiar appearance in those pictures. The dark spot that looks like the Death Star's super laser focus lens is just backlit tree branches. I remember how our skies looked due to ash four years ago. It was a very cool and otherworldy experience. All day was in monochrome tones of orange and dark like at dusk.
