My wife grew up in Detroit. She met Gordie Howe in 1967. He sat with her and her parents for hours just chatting. He was a super nice man, told a lot of funny hockey stories. My wife said she was rather frightened of him because his face was so scared up.

I remember that final - '95, I think. I was shocked the Devils had become so good. I remembered them as the league's doormats perhaps a dozen years before.
My other uncle is from what we know a POW. He went in at 17(lied bout his age) and did 2 tours. Uncle that is still with us; let’s just say “big Red” is his nickname was there from 66’ to 72’
