Decided to check out a waterfall nearby. What Google Maps failed to mention is that the road to it goes through an off-road park...

Thankfully there were some forest roads around the difficult trails. Ended up dust-roading for 2 hours with a front wheel drive Honda Pilot, until we finally gave up looking for those waterfalls and just went to the lake for a family picnic.

Dusted up a little. Thankfully a coat of NuFinish made the wash a breeze.

Voila. After 30 seconds at 50MPH all the water was gone. I love NuFinish. Can't beat it for the price.

Unfortunately there were some rutty and rocky sections on the forest roads... I tried to avoid obstacles the best I could, but we do have casualties.

It hurts me looking at that... That rock in the dirt road got it good... Thankfully I was able to avoid the other 6000 bigger rocks. Still sucks. 😞

This beauty of an accident happened this AM:
IMG_5414.jpeg

This intersection is notorious for people not seeing the stop sign and blowing through it. I hear horns and screeching brakes regularly, and of course the odd collision. This one was a very solid t-bone, didn't hear any brakes, so probably around a 60km/h (37mph) impact into the side of that small Chevy.

I remember shucking corn and shelling peas at that age. I grew up on a 40 acre farm. I also remember being up at 5am to collect eggs from the chicken house and help turn the stock out to pasture before going to school. Everybody worked the farm, from great-grandad down to kids 5 and up, especially during planting and harvesting. It was all hands on deck, 16 hour days. Papaw would be running the tractor, pulling discs, and 3 of us kids would be walking behind it, one casting seed, one casting fert, and the last kicking the dirt. We'd go until it was too dark to keep going.
