earlyre nailed it. The SR-71 was the successor, so yes, the U2 was definitely designed without computers.

Went on 5km hike to one of my favourite mountains, Sulphur Mountain in Banff National Park. It's straight switchback 5km incline for about 2 hours. Took about 20 breaks to catch some breather. Blessed to live only 1.5 hours from this view. Sure, five minute gondola ride would be quick to the top, but there would be no challenge in burning 1000 calories and going up 2000 ft in 3 miles (642 meters in 5.29 km).
