I read that the Point Reyes, an old fishing boat that washed ashore in Tomales Bay may soon be removed because it has become a hazard to visitors. I have visited the location and the boat for about 30 years and the boat has significantly deteriorated over the past 10 years. I have posted pictures of this boat before and it looked much less dilapidated even last year. Recently the starboard side of the hull fell off. I went there today to take maybe the last pictures I will ever take of that boat. 30 years ago I was wondering if the boat might outlast me. I guess it won't.
The boat was built in 1944 and, during a storm, washed ashore on the sandbar where she rests now sometime before the mid-'90s, as far as I know. She is known as the SS point Reyes or the Inverness Shipwreck and must be one of the most photographed tourist attractions in the area.
I egret only shooting with my phone and not having a camera with a long lens.
