If you need scale, the thumb is a good indicator. To be a little more precise, not that precision is needed here, the average length of a man's thumb is 2.75 inches.
Not every image needs to have something in it for scale, and this is one of those images. It's a very graphic photo with strong, bright colors, and is nicely balanced with the hand and banana creating a bold diagonal. The simplicity of the image is its strength.
Most anything else placed in the image would be more of a distraction than a help.

I hope you are using distilled water, assuming that is an ultrasonic humidifier. Regular water will leave white dust everywhere (from the minerals) and that cant be good for your lungs.
