Well, since you’ve already installed them, can’t do much now. I’d replace the rotors and just be lesson learned.
Fish scales on the outer edge? This was going to be my exact comment-- I saw the chatter in the first pic
All the O'Reillys in my area have new brake lathes that are almost like mini enclosed machining centers. You think that a chain parts store employee knows how to use a caliper or a micrometer and knows what minimum thickness specs are?
You should be grateful that they know how to turn a rotor without getting their fingers ripped off.
People are missing that OP states he now has pulsating under heavy braking. This would drive me nuts.Whoever cut those is new to the job. They should have known that with them being so close to min spec that they wouldn't make the cut.
I personally would run them as I am very easy on brakes.... I would not put them on the wife's car though as she can tear up brakes in a week
I got 100 dollar rotor for 45 bucksAlso OP there's a ton of "Auto Extra" closeout rotors on RA right now if you're ok with inexpensive, new rotors. Many are well under $20 so even after shipping it can be a good deal
I usually do pad slaps, happy to get 100kmiles/5 years out of pads. But rotors tend to be looking kinda nasty around them, at least in my experience.'Pad slapping' is pretty standard in Europe. We don't get half as obsessed as changing discs or resurfacing discs on every pad change as you guys do over there. If it brakes well and doesn't squeal then I'd just run it.

This one I thought had lived long enough. I had garaged it for a couple of weeks, it didn't like that, you can see where it decided to seize. Braking surface, where it's still exists, shows that it was still pretty new. I was bummed. Lots of life left.

This seems normal. Grooves aren't that deep.

This one clearly has low miles but sat a lot... to me, it looks a bit questionable. Pretty sure I replaced this one.

That's why I kinda laugh when people talk about getting coated rotors, or painting their calipers... that might be fine in some areas, around here it's just a losing battle if it's a winter driver. I accept that my stuff spends 6 months of the year disintegrating, just comes with climate.Jesus chrsit
Im definitely putting a coated rotor on my summer project car, because aesthetics. (Im also painting the calipers but the cerakote stuff is VERY resistant to rust). That's why I kinda laugh when people talk about getting coated rotors, or painting their calipers... that might be fine in some areas, around here it's just a losing battle if it's a winter driver. I got two rotors for a '99 Ram 1500 4x4 just this morning for $56 shipped.I got 100 dollar rotor for 45 bucks
The rotors that I put on a couple months ago were bought 8 years ago on sale for chump change too
I would have went with Oreiley! Just look at the beautiful fish scale on the outer edges of the rotor! In the custom watchmaking world that is called Guilloche and is highly sought after!I got two rotors for a '99 Ram 1500 4x4 just this morning for $56 shipped.
OR for six bucks less I could pull what's on there, send to O'Reilly to be turned, wait for them to be returned and then hope they're ok.
Yeah, I'll just pay the extra $6 and have new
Excuse me ! That is locally sourced organic Guilloche provided by a local glue sni.. err artisan. Those rotors were not resurfaced, they were butchered.
