You wouldn't use High Mileage oil to prevent leaks or high consumption?
I understood that High Mileage oil can be used to prevent leakage for vehicles over 75k miles. Maybe I'm too gullible to the manufacturer's marketing?

I've stopped rear a rear main leak on on a 135K mi '93 4.6 Ford and now have High Mileage in a '98 Grand Marquis that has "only" 68K mi... It's been mostly used for short in town trips, guessing comparable mostly highway mileage would be over 100K mi...

Was noted last year when the plastic intake was replaced that a couple valve stem seals were leaking slightly... I had also noted consumption was down to around 2500 per qt so last OCI I switched from std M1 to 5w30 High Mileage and so far it's used maybe a ½ quart in 3K mi... I'm not adding till it's down a full qt, as most of the current drop was in the first 1500mi...

I use a 5w-XX in Saskatchewan, which is much colder than Michigan. You can use a 0w-30, but the necessity of doing so is up for debate.

+1.....my idea exactly. Mobil 1 0w30 year-round.
