I have a 2006 Kia Spectra EX I bought new. Always used Kia/Hyundai brand oil filters as well as Mobil 1 5w30 oil until 75k. Then switched to Mobil 1 High Mileage 5w30 and have used that since. Mileage is 125k now and time for an oil change. Went to Walmart. They had no Mobil 1 High Mileage so I got Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w30 (not HM EP). What are your thoughts on using this oil for the next 5k miles which has always been my OCI?

No reason not to use it but it is also overkill for 5k
My thoughts are it will be totally fine.

Can't really call it a waste of money when it's about the same price as any other Mobil 1.
The High Mileage additives that have been holding your car's internals together will catastrophically fail the moment you wash them away with the non-High Mileage oil. Just kidding. The Mobil 1 Extended Performance is at least as good as the Mobil 1 High Mileage, no matter how many miles your car has.

I know but the little old car still looks and runs like new. Always been garaged, never been hit or bumped. So I just go overboard with it just like all my other cars. I have OCD. The pic I posted was just taken recently.
I know but back when I bought this car in 2006, 5k OCI was normal and not beyond. My owner's manual calls for 7.5k but back in '06 that sounded extreme. I was from back in the day when we did OCIs every 3k.

A man the next car over rolled his window down and asked me who painted my car. I told him that was the original paint from 15 years ago. And he was amazed.
