Lots of other models are more reliable than a Ford Mustang, and can probably be had for less money with lower cost of ownership. Yes 17k miles in 10 years can be a problem in itself -- low mileage is good, too low is not good. I would pass unless his heart is really set on a Mustang. And please encourage him to be a safe driver, patient and calm. Too many teenagers focused only on having fun while risking the safety of themselves and everyone else on the road. Sorry for the rant... most people don't realize that driving a vehicle is the most dangerous thing we do every day.
