What's not synthetic about changing molecular structure?
2006 Subaru Outback ej253 and 4EAT hit 425,000. From 0-100,000 miles it saw pennzoil platinum. From ~100,000-350,000 it saw rotella t6 (I know, I've come a long way) from 350-378k it saw Mobil 1 0w40 and Castrol Edge 0w40.
I rebuilt the short block at 378k. Thrust bearing came apart in layers. Fatigue failure. All other bearings minimal wear. Piston rings gunked up pretty good, but what else to expect.
378k-425k mobil 1 0w40, 0w30 afe, Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5W30, HPL 5w40.
0-378,000 miles was 3-4k oil changes.

From 0-150,000 around 1 quart per 3k. From 150-378k about 1 quart per 2k. After rebuild it's been very little and near zero with HPL 5w40.

The old ECM and TBI had finally failed. I had a number of Dodge and GM odds and ends laying around collecting dust. All of my Older Dodge V8s have had their ignition switched to GM HEI. The dodge distributor electronics have no problem triggering a gm hei module, which is just a tad more reliable (in my opinion) than the dodge ignition module and ballast resistor assembly. I used a dodge v8 distributor and a slant 6 trigger wheel and bolted it in. While it does run, the dodge 3.9 is a "semi" odd fire compared to the slant 6 being a even fire, so the firing degrees are off a tad bit, i.e the cylinders are firing at different degrees. I suppose I could try to locate a 89 Dakota and snag the ecm and tbi, but the ecm would be suspect as it would be 37 years old, and any supposedly "Remanufactured" ecm's would invariably be from the fine company known as "Car Done" oops, I mean Cardone, the company that has such a "Steller" reputation..........

2007 Focus. 250,000. Most trouble free car I have ever been associated with. Just a few minor repairs other than normal consumables. I have kept up with routine maintenance
