I had a 1995 Dodge Stratus v6 4speed A/T with ~155,000 miles on it. The transmission went out at around 150k

It was a part of the bad transmission problem generation. TBH I was surprised the transmission lasted that long. I got rid of it rather than pay the 2000+ dollars to replace the transmission.

Everything else on the car was fine though, I was kinda surprised.

239,000 miles on a 98 Ford Contour SVT. Purchased new in August of 97. No engine or trans problems. Original clutch. Factory brake pads replaced at 150,000 miles. Still going strong. I don't drive it gently. I still like it.

1998 f-150/5.4 l V8. Owned since it had 26 miles. Now 157,000
First 50,000 Quaker State Synthetic. 5w30 and 10w30 3-4000 mile interval.
50,000 to 145,000 Mobil 1 5W30 mostly. 3500-5000 mile interval. A few odd runs of GC 0w30, Mobil 1 0w30 and Mobil Delvac 1 5w40.
Now it only sees 4000 miles a year. Summer Pennzoil 5w30 winter MC 5w20.

Babied the thing its whole life. Back when it got a lot of miles it would use 1 qt/5000 miles. (50/50 burn leak)

OTOH, 04 Accord V6 never warmed up or babied uses no oil in 9000 miles with 95000 on the clock. Go figure.

1990 Jeep Cherokee with 187K +. Stock engine with no major changes, with a collasping lifter issue. Jeep 4.0 inline six cylinders require taking the head off to get to the lifters, and aren't known for a lot of space under the hood, or being easy on the head gasket going back together. I need to avoid replacing the lifters as it's a daily driver. After repeated oil changes, and sealing the coolant system, it seems to be getting better.

This looks like a beater - and it is - but as I continue to slowly fix things, in a few more years it will all work at a time when most hit the junkyard - which means more parts for me. With 18 million built, I have few worries finding upgrades like improved manifolds, brakes, etc., and there is a wealth of fix it info on them in a number of forums.

1995 Audi A6 182,000 miles. Uses 1 quart every 1500 miles. Has "Audi sweat" - enough oil seepage that it needs to be washed every so often not to smell of oil. No other issues.

1992 Mercedes 300E 4Matic. 170,000 miles. No issues.

1985 Mercedes 300D. 172,000 miles. No issues.

94 Toyota T-100 V6 5 speed manual long bed. I bought it in 1998 with 17k on odometer. I have run the following oils:
17,000-30,000 miles Valvoline 10w30 conventional.
30k to about 60k: 10w30 Valvoline Durablend.
60 to about 150K: Mobil 1 10w30
150 to present 238K: 10w30 Valvoline Synpower.
I used Purolator PureOne oil filters at first, but I have used Mobil 1 102 Mobil 1 oil filters excusively since about 50k.
I have always done 5-6k OCIs.
No problems at all with engine. Zero oil consumption to date.

1996 Nissan Maxima GXE. 182,000 miles. Bought from my mom for my wife in 2000 with only 38,000 miles. 5000 mile interval by my dad with Castrol. The next 144,000 miles was my great experiment. 10w30 of every major brand. I used Shell, Pennzoil, Havoline, you name it. My brother in law turned me on to Rotella. He uses it in every 4-stroke and diesel he has in his commercial concrete business. So the Maxima got a diet of Ursa, Rotella, Valvoline Blue, Pennzoil's Hd 15w40, the old BP 15w40, whatever different brand I could lay my hands on. It does not burn a drop of oil and has a few minor leaks.
As a side note, when I worked for the Montgomery County, Alabama Sheriff's Office in the early and mid 90's our LT1 Caprices got 5 quarts of SafetyKleen 10w30. They would last 150K miles. And these were HARD MILES! Yep, re-refined motor oil. Got changed every 3000 miles and we never had a problem.
Therefore, I have concluded that it doesn't matter what brand or viscosity you use, as long as you change it regularly, 5 to 10K miles for Dino or 15+K for real synthetic.

We just rolled over 190,000 miles on our 1999 Toyota Sienna. After all these miles and nearly 9 years, it still hasn't had any kind of failure. I've replaced a few worn out parts but that is it. I've certainly over-changed the oil in this 1MZ-FE engine but given its reputation, probably that has been a good thing. I't pretty much seen a steady diet of 5000 mile OCIs on either M1 or GC, plus 30K flushes of the transmission with Mobil 1 ATF.

231,150 miles...99 Honda Accord LX, at best it had average maintenance & oil changes every 4000/5000 miles using just run of the mill 10w30..never had engine problems or any other big problems nor did the origianl owner.
Bought the car used but knew the original owner & the cars history, had it for just under a year & sold the car for more than I paid for it.

98 Volvo S70 has 226,000 miles. Change oil with Mobil 1 10w30 every 10,000 miles and major sevice at dealership every 30,000 miles. Nothing but routine service, doesn't, burns 1 qt. every 5-6kmiles & still runs strong. How far will she go ?

89 Toyota 2.4L E/C 4X4 PU w/ 297,000miles Syntec 10w30 and Fram filters. 02 Hyundai Elantra 147,000+ (almost 150,000) Syntec 10w30 and Fram Filters. Both vehicals used 7,500mile OCI's and never had an oil related problem

We have over 160K on our 98 Chevy K2500 with a 5.7 vortec engine. The truck pulls a heavy landscape trailer daily and our race cars on the weekends. Good ole conventional oil when ever we get around to it. We have no set interval but we wont let it go beyond 7,000 miles.

150k as of yesterday on the '98 Sienna. Previous owner (0 to 62k) was dino at 3-4k OCIs. For the last 90k it's been majority M1 (0w,5w and 10w) - primarily 8 to 9k OCIs and then Schaeffers for some short OCIs as I try to solve a consumption issue.

1993 Ford Escort 1.9L @ 318K miles

This was my mother's car for the first 100K miles--she took it in to the dealership every 3K miles for their bulk dino and a new filter. She redid the front brakes during that time, but all other repairs were general maintenance stuff.

I bought the car at 100K miles in '99 when I was a junior in high school, and it became the dedicated road trip car for my group of friends. I took it to Jiffy Lube a few times the first couple years, but from about 2002 to 2008 I only changed the oil five or six times while putting around 150K miles on the odometer. I think it last saw a mechanic's bay in 2002. From 2006 onward I stopped doing oil changes completely and just topped it off with a quart every few months. The only other fluids I replenished were coolant and brake fluid.

The car finally died in February--the charging system was fubar. I bought a new Honda, started doing a little internet browsing on car maintenance, and ended up here. I have another 3,000 miles to go before my first oil change, but I've already got a case of WIX oil filters from Fleetfilters, some air filters, a Fumoto valve, and 30 quarts of M1 & PP motor oil sitting in my garage.

My 99 Integra has 425,000 kms (264k miles). Have had it from new. 10k km oil changes. Have used nothing but Castrol Syntec 5W30 and 0W30(winter) in it. Have used GC (year round) for at least the last 180k kms (110k miles). Still running smoothly, although down about 1 litre after 10k kms

1995 Saturn SL2, 221K, same engine & transmission.

1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2L, 171K, same engine, just had the transmission rebuilt.

Both used by kids for school & work now. 3000-4000 mile OCIs, no real problems except both do use 1+ quarts of oil between changes. I'm not complaining.

1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2L. It had 356,000 miles on it. I had to put it down a few months ago. Broke a rod.I ran Valvoline MaxLife 10W30 after 80,000 mile with OCI 3,500-4,000. Sure worked for me.

Man all you guys are insane. Im still under 100K in both Tacoma and Jetta. Once the rinse phases are done Maxlife 5W30 and maintence doses of Auto Rx goes in....im hoping to see those numbers some day.
