What do they expect when the government has taught us that it is always someone else's problem? The police and their policies are just as much at fault as anyone.

Care to wager on the immigration status of the driver?

Well, I'd term it that we've been strongly conditioned not to be heroes. Any champion quickly learns that no good deed goes unpunished.

What? You are blaming the goverment for this? LMAO. Ok. Wow.

How about society in general? How about our culture, which is ever changing and becoming more and more impersonal and materialistic? Everyone is out for themselves. IF anything, government at times (notice i said "at times") promotes a more collectivist mindset and tries to level the playing field (which in most cases does not work as well as they want it too).

Have people really changed though? Nature/Nurture thing....society sure has. Better or worse?

Who teaches 90% of the youth in this country on how to act and what to think? Who says not to get involved or take action and call 911? Who would rather you get on a never ending program to solve your problems rather than you go to your neighbors?

Yeah, I blame government.

I can tell you this, buster. I see people isolating themselves more than ever. Their personal electronic devices are a symptom of this. There is less empathy and sympathy and a more entitled attitude.

Materialism? I guess there's more of it. There's just a total lack of consideration and a whole load of anger.

yeah, I believe it. I was taking a cpr course a few years ago. I was told of a case where a gentleman had a heart attack in a public setting. He was lying on the ground. Everyone just stood around him watching. No one started cpr for almost five minutes. He died. 911 was called though.

Oh, I can't forget when I was pushed out of the way by a semi truck on the interstate in the slow lane. I spun and hit the far left lane wall. No one stopped. I called the police myself. luckily, I wasn't hurt or my wife.

It is a sad day. I have been in public service for the last 15 years of my life. I couldn't imagine, fathom, or believe myself witnessing that without lending a helping hand.

I can see not touching the guy unless you are a trained responder. Moving him could do even more damage. But no one seemed to make a cell call or go into the stores for help.

Here's another one. In the hospital setting, I'll be in a patients room dealing with a serious issue. I have had another patient family member come in the room to tell me that their mom needs another blanket.

Television, the internet, and Xbox. All fine examples of pure capitalism in practice.

Well, maybe in Nevada it's different, but in the rest of the U.S. we can elect people who represent our views.

The difference is you have the right to turn those off. There are laws mandating attendance of youth in govenment schools.

If the majority is always right, why have courts?

Good question. Ask the voters in CA if their marriage amendment vote was worth anything. It was steamrolled by 4 people.

Nevada State Legislature

UPDATE: On June 4, 2007, a new Nevada homeschool bill was passed. The new law went into effect on July 1, 2007. Visit Nevada Homeschool Network to follow updates to the forms and ti read explanations of the new law.

Their website explains:

NV Homeschoolers are governed by Nevada Revised Statute 392.070. The wording of this statute will change as the new language is added. We are also under NRS 392.040, which pertains to exemption from compulsory attendance. Children in Nevada are required to attend public school between the ages of 7 and 18, unless they receive a waiver of exemption. (This legislative session the end age went FROM 17 TO 18.)

It appears that this is not a Fed regulated thing
