Amazing. Amazing that people ignore him (I have jutted my head into unfriendly circumstances more than once- guess I'll blame my public school education). Amazing that people blame schools or government for how children are raised. My parents were old school- they raised me and did not depend on any one else (except other adults they trusted) to give me morals and guidance. Did those cars pass another car across a double yellow line to hit him? I hope they catch them.

After my 7 year-old saw this, he asked why no one was helping him. When I explained possible reasons, he said "I still would have tried to help". Educated on the taxpayer's nickel he is, but "taught" at home. Think there is alot less of this happening, sad.

If you see suffering, you're obligated to relieve it if you can. It's rarely going to be convenient ..and it often takes courage.

We do our part whenever we can. In viewing the issue that we raised with our battle with ConocoPhillips, and lack of more productive responses, it is clearly evident that the majority does not care unless it something that effect or involves them. We live in an extreme self serving society. Unless you are part of trying to produce a productive solution, then you have nothing to complain about. So the video shown should not be a surprise.

Jeez, I almost got run into for rescuing a cat in the middle of our busiest street - let alone an elderly man.

It was 2 cars that plowed the guy - the 2nd one ran over his leg.

The way it looked, those 2 drivers should be brought up on the charge of voluntary manslaughter at a minimum, more like attempted murder.

Not much shocks me anymore. A pastor that I work with in his ministry often admires my grace under fire when dealing with the underclass and the failures that we encounter. I merely tell him that it's not some deep well of internal fortitude that I draw from ..but rather that I've personally been conquered many times in my personal empire building ..so some personal sacrifices/failures don't really mean that much in the scale of things.

I can't "fix" humanity. I can only attempt to see it and seek it in others.

What's one more splinter when you've experienced telephone poles??

I agree. There is a cultural component as at a large scale it seems that no matter where you seem to put some and no matter the circumstances they end up thriving and eventually helping others, while others always struggle. A level down families make a bigger difference, where they either don't or do achieve what most others seem to in similar cirsumstances. An at individual level it also obviously varies a lot, but one or a series of kind acts by others can make a huge difference people's lives. I know because it happened to me.

If you're trying to make things better don't get discouraged by setbacks, single acts by individual do make a difference. Changing a pattern of multi-generational problems is much harder to improve.

Agree completely guys! (gary, drew, 1st)

Many positives happen out of "sticking your neck out" to help out. You build up a wealth of knowledge. You help others. You lead by example. You meet many knowledgeable, and friendly people. And in the end you can feel like you are doing something that will make a difference.

Is there risk? Yes. We beleive the positives outweigh the negatives in any endeavor we undertake. You have to carefully assess your options.
