This is what happens when a cook puts mustard on a hot dog ...

I usually don’t put anything on a hot dog but if I do it will be mustard only. I rarely have ever put ketchup on it, even as a kid. Maybe it’s a Canadian thing to use mustard over ketchup because it seems very common here
@GSCJR, also from Ontario reported to put pure unfiltered maple syrup on his hots dogs. He states maple syrup is the number one condiment for hot dogs in Canada.

Are you sure you are Canadian; maybe your are really from Greenland or Iceland? To cold to grow tomatoes to make ketchup in Greenland or Iceland.

The subject of ketchup (or is it catsup? :sneaky: ) reminds me of a conversation I had with a buddy a few weeks ago. He was telling me that he HATES tomatoes, but LOVES ketchup. He just couldn't figure it out. He looked like I had slapped him in the face when I told him the difference between tomatoes and ketchup is the mountains of sugar that's added to ketchup.
Now...check how many calories mustard has....... .....
Aldi's used to sell a decent sriracha mustard at a decent price. Long gone.

@GON, I don't mind a hot dog every once and a while, but I don't use ketchup like I used to, I find it too sweet. I use very little with mustard on mine. I have recently been having sauerkraut, mustard and hot peppers on sausages in a bun.

Saying mustard is greater than ketchup on a hot dog is like saying Nissan CVT is more reliable than a Honda automatic transmission.
So maybe your on to something? I have yet to see a 3rd generation Xtronic failed. Came out in 2020 I think. I have asked around, including here?

Ketchup on a hot dog is awful. Mustard, relish, onion, pickle, jalepeno. I could imagine trying even Mayo if its Duke's? But no ketchup.

That, and plenty of vinegar.

The only thing I use on a hot dog......a Western New York tradition.

I bet my preference for natural casing hot dogs only, would be as popular as my belief that one should only have gas struts holding up hoods.

Ketchup is like a prop rod! (tell that to the Heinz family and heirs)
