I went years without being called, then, in one 18-month period got called for city, county, state and federal. And then county again. I truly believe that if one shows up (many don't) that it means a greater likelihood of being called again.

I've always wanted to serve on a Jury just once. My luck was that when I moved to Iowa two years ago - California jury sommoned me...
Had to send proof of living in Iowa (telephone bill, etc...). Oh well, maybe sometime again in the future?
I'm 32 and have been summoned twice (both county), excused once and never actually made it to a jury. The first time I was summoned, I was in college and it was finals time. I wrote them a letter explaining my situation and was excused from reporting to the courthouse. The second time was last summer. I only had to report for one day and was called to the courtroom once for jury selection. They randomly picked people by number to go up for questioning. My number was not called. It would have been an interesting case, though. A man was on trial for murder. He was claiming self defense. Two men got into a fight, one wound up on the wrong end of a shotgun. The prosecutor was very professional and seemed to really have his ducks in a row. The defense lawyer was an older hippie type with long hair and slow, slightly slurred speech (say that five times fast). I followed up on that case in the newspaper. The outcome was just as you would expect. I wonder what would have happened with more evenly matched lawyers.
Maybe in MA and other areas that prohibit homeowners from doing their own electrical and plumbing work.
I have been a registered voter for over 5 years and I have never, ever been asked to serve on a jury.

me either.. Im 25, and so have ben elligible for the last 7 years. You would think with all the folks in northern NJ, that they would ned a lot of bodies... but I guess not?!?
