Is there any problem in changing back and forth between high mileage synthetic and regular syn oil? The car is a 97 4cyl Camry with 231K miles. The OCI is 5k. I generally use Mobil 1 High Mileage but have noticed good sales on other non-High Mileage oils. My concern was that the seals might somehow become accustomed to the higher level of seal conditioner.

Nope, over time you may notice a difference, but probably not. If the vehicle starts leaking more, it's going to be due to deterioration of the seals from age and mileage.

So, have fun and switch it all you want, you could even try mixing it!!!

We have no stupid questions here--only opportunities for advancement! You could switch as many time as you like with no worries.

I don't blame you for changing oils. I am doing the same thing, though none of my cars have nearly as many miles.

Prices right now are *way* too good to pass up.

High Mileage oils have a bit more additives for metal wear, are thicker in their viscosity range, and have seal conditioners [softeners].
They are not as potent as a dedicated seal conditioner additive. But they work pretty good, given running time in the engine.
I'd probably stick with the High Mileage.
But you can switch to any oil anytime.
