This Guy Just Bought A Pontiac 6000 He Left A Note On 14 Years Ago

Cool. I had no idea this platform offered an AWD. I'm more curious about that system than anything.

I always thought GM FWD A-platform cars were pretty awful. Wife had a 1981 skylark way back in the day and inlaws had a ~1991 Buick Century for about 8-9yrs. As plush as the seats looked in the century, they were terrible for long trips.

I really liked my '89 SE. Cushy, could drive it with my size 14 winter boots on, unlike the '88 325is I had at the same time. Good mileage, full gauges, good low-end torque out of the 2.8. Really not engineered well; every single brake and fuel line rotted out and the head gaskets eventually went. I don't get why American cars just aren't built for the salt belt.

I also had a $400 90 ish Buick Century with the 3 speed and burnt valve 3.3L with about 155K, that one lived all the way to 245K miles chugging away, (you would loose a dollar bill in the exhaust from the bad vavles) until electrical issues made it not run for more then 3 mins, so i junked it, and the oldsmobile cierra 3 speed 3.3L, I picked up with 85K miles for $225 non running, fixed the fuel pump and ran it until 140K miles with nothing more then oil and transmission fluid changes. the CV and alternator broke at the same time, so i junked that one also.

Looking back they were not great cars lol, but reliable and cheap parts sure.. I think i did the Buick in myself by driving in a flooded road at night by mistake, and the water went up to the front lights, and stalled. once the water receded i drove it home, but weeks later electrical issues.

Ahhhh the memories!

Cool story BTW.
