A few weeks ago Car and Driver posted an article on the Mercedes-AMG S63 E Performance. The overall theme of the article was how the performance, the comfort level and features such as the active LED headlights as well as the automatic high beams made a long drive considerably less stressful.
In the comments the suspected BITOG member posted,
“I have a Ford Escape PHEV and I got into an extremely high stress situation while getting lost on the complex road network around Miami International. I had to accelerate and maneuver across multiple lanes in traffic while keeping track of the many exits. The Escape performed marvelously. Its instant response to throttle inputs and maneuverability gave me a lot of confidence. While I was disappointed in myself for getting disoriented, I was extremely satisfied with the car, which cost $120,000 less and gets 20+ mpg more than the Mercedes. For that price, I also get a very good cruise control with lane keeping and automatic high beams. I don't have active headlights but I do have $120,000 in the bank. A fair trade.”
I replied,
“I'm currently cross-shopping the Escape PHEV and the S63 E Performance. Believe me, it's definitely not an easy decision to make.”
